Sarah Palin, unabashed socialist

Kudos to Keith Olberman for digging up the facts. Who’d have thought that only a couple of months ago Palin herself was bragging about making Alaska a bastion of socialism, from sharing the wealth of big oil companies with the public, to taking pride in the fact that the state’s resources were owned by the public. She even used the word “Socialist”.

Does she even remember?

Update on Un-Americanism

Posted in Fascism, humor, Hypocrisy, neocon crackpots at 3:14 pm by angela

There’s just been so danged much un-Americanism goin’ on, it’s hard for a Republican to call them all out.

As you ought to be aware (if not, read my previous post and view those videos, which are only a small part of the amazin’ Michelle Bachmann archive), Michelle Bachmann put her foot in her mouth very deeply on Hardball last Friday, saying that Obama was a liberal and probably un-American, and that there ought to be a Media witchhunt to investigate members of Congress for un-Americanism. Given the opportunity to clarify, she just dug herself in up to her neck in her own muck.

She was therefore surprised and shocked to discover than her opponent, Elwyn Tinkenberg, managed to raise $800,000 nationwide, based solely on the weight of her comments. She has since come out with a rather subdued statement saying that she was misinterpreted and never said any of the things she outright said or tried to insinuate. Also, she’s now trying to imply that there’s something unpatriotic with people giving money to her opponent after hearing what a lunatic she is. Good luck with that, Michelle. Donate now. Her statements have tripled his campaign resources.

Her Republican primary opponent, Aubrey Immelman, is also now back in the race as a write-in.

Jon Stewart was doing a comedy show at Northeastern University and went through her comments. His response? “Fuck you!”

We also heard this weekend from John McCain’s brother Joe, who talked about “communist” Virginia, as opposed to the patriotic parts, of course. And McCain spokesman Nancy Pfotenhauer went on about how great it was to be in “real” Virginia, as opposed to Democratic-leaning parts.

So Jon Stewart had to update and expand his commentary.

And now, Republican Rep. Robin Hays had some nice words to say while serving as warmup for a Palin crowd. It sounded bad, so of course he denied what he said. Anybody ever hear of electronic recording devices? How about playback?

Let’s find those unAmericans out there…

And do what with them? Put them in prison camps?

Seriously, it’s time for a good ambush interview with Michelle Bachman, Republican rep from Minnesota. Ask her some tough questions, but word them in a neutral way, so as not to set off her “UnAmerican meter”. Let’s find out if she thinks a “House UnAmerican Activities Committee” might be a good idea. I want to know if she knows who Joe McCarthy was.

People like this piss me off. She’s convinced that she wasn’t elected by the people of her district, she was chosen by God, because God supports everything she ever has done or will do, regardless of how amoral her behavior appears.

By pretending to be devout but not a religious fanatic, she has duped enough people into her disctrict into thinking that she’s a good person who would fight for their rights. And the rest? By claiming that her opponent personally wants to speak with Bin Laden and wants to see dead babies in the streets, she’s got the whacko vote tied up.

She’d probably disenfranchise 95% of Americans, given the opportunity.

Do you think Michelle Bachman is unAmerican? Sign a petition to Congress requesting her censure.

The last debate: the final word on the campaign

Posted in Election 2008, Hypocrisy, John McCain in his own words, neocon crackpots, Political rant at 11:11 am by angela

From TIME’s Amy Sullivan:

In politics it is generally not considered a good sign when voters are laughing at you, not with you. And by the end of the third and last presidential debate, the undecided voters who had gathered in Denver for Democratic pollster Stan Greenberg’s focus group were “audibly snickering” at John McCain’s grimaces, eye-bulging, and repeated references to “Joe the Plumber.”

Undecideds laughing at, not with McCain

McAngry, the debate edition

John McCain is “proud of people who come to his rallies”? Like the guy with the monkey doll labeled ‘Obama’?

I suspect that the reason the McCain campaign was not particularly concerned about racist and threatening shouts from the crowd—”Terrorist!” “Kill him!” “Off with his head!” (Who says that?) and “Defenestrate him!” (Okay, I made that one up…) is because the shouters were plants. I saw a “heckler” take the mike from McCain and then carry on a discussion with him and the crowd, clearly scripted.

But the warmup speakers that were screaming “Barack HUSSEIN Obana” at Palin’s rallies and her crazed Hitleresque whipping up the crowed into a foam-at-the-mouth frenzy—that was not just a little bit of theater. Only once did McCain respond to someone who said something untrue, and Palin has never tried to calm down her crowds.

But remember what McCain said during the debate about people at Obama rallies shouting threats about him and not being told to stop… proof, please. As they say on digg.com, Video or it didn’t happen. Does McCain live in a different reality from the one I live in? You know what I think the answer to that question is…

While we’re at it, here’s a link to a story about how Cindy McCain, tired of not getting cell phone reception at the ranch, which is in the middle of nowhere, asked Verizon and AT&T to do something about it, and they got two cellphone towers! Free! Just like if you and I complained about our reception, right?

While I’m on a roll here, here’s the deal with ACORN.

And speaking of plants, hmm. Here’s what “Joe the Plumber” had to say today on TV:

“It floored me. It’s not something I expected, ever,” Wurzelbacher told “Good Morning America” on ABC. Though he wouldn’t say for whom he was voting, Wurzelbacher said Obama had a “very socialist view” of taxes “and that’s incredibly wrong.”

Link

Except for one thing. Joe’s not even a registered voter in Ohio. He’s a McCain campaign plant, I’ll betcha!

Say it ain’t so, Joe!

And a little bit on McCain’s temper…

This is too rich. Someone by that last name lives in Wasilla and races dogsleds.

The smoking gun: Palin plastic surgery?

Posted in Accountability, Election 2008, neocon crackpots, Sarah Palin at 6:12 pm by angela

I was working on this post about the Sarah Palin flag pin/brooch issue, and I thought it would be kind of cool to photoshop (actually, paintshop pro) a giant blinking flag sign across her chest, just in case the reason she’s doing poorly is because her flag pin is not large enough.

So I went looking for a photo of her on Google, and I was having a lot of difficulty finding one that showed her upper torso. Most of the photos I found are either official posed photos of her face or shots of her speaking from the chin up.

I finally found this photo on Wikipedia, with a notation that it was “taken at the Alaska Airmen’s Trade Show in Anchorage, Alaska in May 2008″.

I played with it, but it’s not a particularly good photo for what I was intending. However, the more I looked at it, the more I realized that she doesn’t look like that now. Let’s look up close.

Her face is saggy, and her neck and chin are droopy. She looks, maybe 45 or 50. Which, of course, she is. But like I said, she doesn’t look like that now. So I went looking for some more photos.

I remembered reading that several plastic surgeons looked at existing photos of her and, failing to find a “smoking gun” photo, decided she had had a facepeel or something like that. I also remembered that immediately following her selection by John McCain, almost all personal photos were scrubbed off websites she had control over.

So I had to look a while to find another photo from that period. This one is from Monocle, which is some kind of a subscription-only online magazine about Alaska issues. The magazine issue is dated October, 2007.

Now let’s take a look at a closeup.

Note: seeing this, a friend who was unfamiliar with the question going around about the “lipliner tattoos” told me that Sarah’s got lipliner tattoos.

I could only find one more photo from that period that showed her well, the infamous official “family portrait”, undated, but supposedly from October or November of 2007. Clearly it was taken before the long dark winter set in. Find it here.

Let’s get an upclose and personal look at Sarah’s face now. It looks to me like she’s been photoshopped. Look at that perfect, smooth, glossy, waxy tan skin. In November?

So at this point I thought to myself that I wanted to see what she looks like right now as a comparison.

Looking around, I happened across a number of “celebrity” sites where Sarah is featured prominently. Funny, no Barack Obama celebrity page… Is that why McCain shut up about the celebrity shtick? If you read about her “beauty queen” days, you will see that she didn’t win. She came in 3rd at the state pageant and got Miss Congeniality.

Back to the photo hunt.

What a cute “Mom and Dad” picture. Nice firm jawline on a 44 year old woman who has just given birth.

You see this one everywhere. Doesn’t she look great! Now look at the sign in back. The photo is 3 years old.

This one’s a favorite of mine.

What’s going on with her neck? Is that a shadow of an earring? Nope.

It’s two fresh scars that the makeup artist forgot to cover up and the photoshop artist botched. Is that a swelling on her neck?

And now I admit that I didn’t look at her neck in the family photo until I enlarged the face crop and brightened it to see if it changed how her face looked while I was writing this article. It didn’t, but didn’t it bring her neck out of the shadows? Uh, what’s up with that? Did she have a chemical peel on her neck, or get the skin sanded down? And the photo editor missed that when photoshopping her face?

Let’s take another look at that 3 year old photo that was taken while she was running for governor. Let’s look at her neck close up.

She had the same scars on her neck then, but at that time they were faded. Similar scars in the same place…hmm… Now I’m sure there’s a reason. Second necklift? Is that some kind of lesion you see on her neck in the older photo?

Let’s look again at her neck as it appears in the photo at the top of the page. There’s that peel/scarring effect still going on. There’s also a major discoloration where the old scars are, almost like bruising. Is there something going on that we should know about?

Here’s her official state portrait. Nice big smile there, Sarah.

Now compare her lower eyelids in the gubernatorial campaign photo from 3 years ago. In the older photo, again a big grin, but lots of crow’s feet and baggy lower lids.

Now here’s the photo that started my quest. Go back up to the top. Do you think that the woman at the top of this blog entry looked like that last May but like this last Friday night without surgery?

Obama Pictures and McCain Pictures

Here’s the two together to compare. Neck lift, mid-facelift, lower eyelid lift, peel, lipo, and cheek implants.

“Joe six-pack” my ass. That’s $50,000-$100,000 worth of plastic surgery you’re looking at. Will the real Sarah Palin please stand up?

And again, him and his henchmen.

In a just amazing Time interview, McCain managed to answer hardly any of the questions he was asked. Of the ones he did, well, you be the judge.

Q: Some members of the [Iraqi] government have made it clear in the last month or two that they might want to withdraw before complete stability, before totally secure borders, before some of the completeness of victory as you described. Is there any change, do you think there is some wiggle room there because what you described with Petraeus was an end point that was rather complete — a peaceful, stable country.

MCCAIN: Its a peaceful and stable country now.

Think Progress

From a story in the Dallas Morning News, McCain advisor John Goodman has proposed a novel solution to the problem of uninsured Americans: reclassifying as “insured”, based on how their bills will be paid. Not having anybody to pick up the bill, we can just create a name for that and call it “insured”!

And ‘R’ is for…

Just when you thought it was safe to get out of the car when passing through South Carolina, a South Carolina state senator has stepped up to the plate, not just willing, but proud to reveal the TRUTH, regardless of what the state’s tourism bureau may be trying to deceive out-of-staters into thinking.

That they’re a bunch of redneck inbred neonazis? Hmm. Maybe he should rewrite the message if it’s not communicating the message that he really wants us to receive.

Click through and read those comments. Unbelievable.

With friends like this, McCain doesn’t need enemies.

Recession? It’s all in your head

Posted in Election 2008, John McCain in his own words, neocon crackpots at 9:39 pm by angela

Yeah, Phil Gramm had to exit the McCain campaign this week after saying perhaps a bit too explicitly that the American people are imagining the recession. But it’s not like it isn’t anything that McBush does not agree with and has not said himself. Certainly Bush has said it, too. So here’s a cute video about it from moveon.org.

Don’t forget, McCain had a one month credit card bill of $370,000. It’s hard for me to imagine that somebody who is comfortable with spending that much money can relate to ME. But each to his own…
