People and Jobs
How are we different from other schools?
This is a full-service residential prep school. Therefore we have a large staff providing essential services, just as with any prep school. Well, actually the Gold Star Academy of Discipline is somewhat different from most prep schools, as we provide services above and beyond what might normally be found at schools with a different educational philosophy.
We naturally have a full faculty teaching academic and general enrichment subjects, plus support staff providing housing and food services. Because of our endowment and the generosity of our alumni, we are able to hire uniquely qualified staff who we see as an asset to the school, irrespecive of whether there is an immediate "job opening". We are also able to bring in outside specialists to teach seminars, and can host short-time visitors on working vacations, provided they are able to provide services to the school.
Typically we hire:
- Classroom teachers for standard academic and enrichment subjects.
- Classroom, seminar, and workshop teachers for nonstandard subjects. Girls must learn to manipulate the male in order to get as much productivity out of him as possible, while boys are trained to follow the orders of women in order to receive rewards. These are things which we have found can be taught most effectively in modular classes.
- Guidance counselors, to help all students understand their weaknesses and strengths in order to set lifelong goals. Many boys are best suited to grow up to be beasts of burden, and it is an important goal of ours to get them to accept this as their fate and find satisfaction in it.
- Tutors, for all the extra help needed to get those grades up. This is of critical importance for boys who arrive in what should have been their senior year, but were held back at least once. Their academic level is so far behind that of their peers that without intensive study, they could not earn even the most diluted and debased diploma that public schools have to offer.
Although we have an excellent two year program, some boys need more time. We are willing to keep them as long as it takes.
- Personal trainers, to make sure that our student body doesn't get physically lazy. There are many different types of healthy physical activity. We train our boys to become accustomed to exercising, while avoiding certain sports that encourage the "gladiator" mentality.
- Personal supervisory staff:
- House mothers in the open dormitory areas, to constantly observe and correct behavior.
- Hall and restroom monitors, to make sure everyone is where they are supposed to be at all times during the school day.
- Behavioral specialists and trainers. We have found that some boys either recognize the futility of resistance or grow to embrace the feminine goal of academic achievement. For those we can provide increasing freedom and rewards. For those boys who tend to resist, we have a variety of punishments and creative specialists to apply these punishments. Eventually boys come to realize that the punishments will stop when they start following the rules, and only after they have achieved their goals will they be released.
Our school nurse, who takes a medical approach toward keeping students in line. By the way, we have a new school nurse! We all agree that we all loved the old nurse. She was very sweet and kind, but didn't fit into the program all that well, as she found the kind of "tough love" we often employ to be against her nature. She has gone back to her old job at that maximum security prison, and we wish her well.
We often have staff members available for telephone counseling sessions. Are you having difficulty adjusting to the fact that you, as a male, are inferior to females, and there's nothing you seem to be able do about it? Perhaps you've earned yourself some punshment for your bad behavior, but have no one to administer it. Call one of us, we can talk you through it and help you to resign yourself to your fate.
