Effective Punishments We Employ
Punishment is only effective when it is carefully planned and implemented. Physical punishment was eliminated in public schools because they did not have the discipline to instititute effective programs, leaving it to the whim of the individual teachers, none of whom had any training in relevant subjects, such as animal control. In addition, since it is considered too humiliating to give punishments directly related to the crime, schools end up giving so-called punishments such as after school detention, where the students are allowed to make up late assignments without penalty or choose to do nothing at all, hardly a meaningful punishment.
What we have found is that the best results are achieved when misdeeds are immediately caught, then swiftly and surely punished. The best type of punishment is one that relates to the specific crime and its causes. It will have a physical component followed by a punitive component, and finally a component of atonement should there be a victim or offended female. Therefore we provide a variety of punishments, variations of the following.
Physical Punishments
Physical punishment generally involves spanking by various means. Repeat offenders would eventually work their punishment up to where they would be publicly whipped or flogged in stocks on our "Spanking Fridays" rallies.
- palm of the hand
- ruler across the knuckles
- paddle
- strap
- cane
- whip
Written Punishments
Written punishments might involve repeatedly copying a passage designed to humiliate and reinforce proper behavior. A boy also might be assigned to repeatedly the rule that was broken directly from the Rule Book.
- Handwritten lines
- FOW (Fond of Writing) is a computerized program used for punishments. The joy of this program is that it is self-monitoring. When the punishment is complete, the program stops and generates a report for the supervisor on how successfully the punishment was completed.
Indeed, it does my heart good to see a detention hall full of boys either carefully copying lines in order to meet the requirements of accuracy and neat penmanship, or intently practicing their typing skills in order to complete a FOW assignment and be released from detention in time for dinner.
Lifestyle punishments
Of course, there are times when a punishment clearly will fit the crime. For instance, failing to complete and turn in an assignment on time will result in detention. Now in public schools, detention is a place where males may work on late assignments if they wish, or do nothing at all if they so desire. Unfortunately, males with nothing productive to do generally end up getting in more trouble, causing distraction to other students who may be attempting to follow orders properly.
This does not happen in our school. Homework is to be done at home or in the dorm room, in any case, by oneself. Detention time is spent repeatedly copying out the page containing the rule that students broke. There are no idle hands to do the work of the devil in this school. If a male is not doing anything productive, we will find him something to do, and there should not need to be a next time.
