Tuition costs
Can I afford this?
As you are undoubtedly aware, the costs of sending a child to a high quality boarding school can be as great as those of any top university. Like many schools, we say we make every attempt to keep costs down. At the Gold Star Academy of Discipline we are in a unique position, which gives us free rein to do what we feel will help you, the parent, to send your boy away for a long time.
Our major cost-savings method, of course, is utilizing the labor of our boys to save on bringing in outside contractors. Not only does this save us a great deal of money, but it teaches the boys good work habits, while giving them training in various trades and menial jobs. Some boys end up pursuing further training after leaving, becoming carpenters or professional ditch-diggers. Heavy labor will keep a boy in shape, so we don't need to have a full gym program. We certainly save money by not having to subsidize expensive sports that inflate the egos of young male participants.
We have a series of workshops for off-campus visitors. These normally run from a weekend to two weeks in length. Males from outside will pay high fees to experience what our boys are living every day. Training programs like this are hard to find, so basically we charge what the market will bear. The men sleep in the barracks, and boys are randomly reassigned to sleep in tents when they are displaced in this way. A little fresh air never hurt anyone!
We have weekend and week-long getaways for women who are looking to get away from obnoxious males in their life. Rates are comparable to other full-service retreats. We find that after a week of being served by a series of well-trained males, a woman will often choose to begin our online course for dominant females. This is the same online course we provide to mothers of families that send wayward males to our school, but tuition we can charge is, again, a big cost center. Most workshops at the school are videotaped and produced into online courses. The money we make on this covers the costs of educating the young women.
By doing all these things, we have managed to keep the costs down to that of what a commuter pays at a modestly-priced community college, rather than the full cost of living and learning at an Ivy League school. So in fact, you can afford to send your child to this school.
